Simon English, Club Golfer

Just wanted to let you know my thoughts after the recent lesson, I know it is early days for such a testimonial, but in two months time when I've been cut instead of drifting up I might not have the time.

As a long term 6/7 handicap golfer I have always felt my long game was 2/3 handicap and my putting was at best 18. Sometimes my putting was good and other times awful but no matter what I did I couldn't improve consistency. In desperation I travelled for 5 hours to Southport (and another 5 hours back) and a one-on-one session with Phil Kenyon.

2 1/2 hours later I finally understood why I was a poor and inconsistent putter. At times the necessarily patient Phil had to re-iterate his explanations in order that I began to comprehend what I good putting stroke should feel like. A good mix of technical analysis, demonstration and practical application meant that eventually the light bulb went on. And boy how bright it is.

I had hoped that improving my putting stroke would take 2 shots off a round, making my bad rounds closer to buffer and my good ones a decent cut in handicap. Recent analysis makes me believe that 2 - 6 shots a round is the difference (I really was quite a poor putter) and even more importantly I approach every green positively. If I miss a makeable putt I know whether it was a bad read or a poor stroke (and most importantly I know why it was a bad stroke)

You may know by now that I am a huge fan of the principles taught by Phil at Harold Swash Putting and I would highly recommend a session for anyone wanting to improve their putting stats.
