As David Horsey triumphs in a 3-man playoff to become only the 4th Englishman to win the Trophée Hassan in its 40 year history, it proves yet another welcome sign of ‘Business as Usual’ for Yes! Golf – makers of the C-Groove Callie Putter Horsey has used since before the Walker Cup in 2007, and one of Horsey’s longest-standing coaching and custom-fitting supporters.
The Englishman’s approach shot at the second hole playoff left him poised nicely a mere 2 feet behind the pin for a birdie par 3. Nothing could be taken for granted, though, as a shot into the bunker on the first knockout hole showed that nerves and fatigue were starting to show. In the event, he rattled his ball into the cup with no hesitation, when both his opponents – Jaco van Zyl and title-defender Rhys Davies – were both showing noticeable jitters on relatively simple putts.
This is David Horsey’s 2nd European Tour victory in his 73rd, moving him into the top 80 of the Official World Golf Rankings from 115th and earning him an exemption until the end of the 2013 season.
Yes! Golf MD Peter Allison said: “We’re all really delighted for David here at Yes! Golf. After all the bittersweet distractions since Yes! Golf in the USA went through its failure and buyout by Adams, the straightforward celebration of a Tour win for one of our nicest guys on Tour is like a happy return to the good old days... the first of many to come for Yes! Golf in the UK I’m sure.”
New owners Adams Golf have recently been getting to grips with their 2 most successful Yes! distributors for The British Isles and the EU in the run up to the 2011 golf season. It’s seen as vital by the European golf trade and the many thousands of golfers who own Yes! Putters and continue to rely on custom-fitting and training-aid support from Yes!
If one were superstitious at all, it could be seen as another omen of future well-being in that Retief Goosen has reportedly returned his Yes! Tracy* putter to the bag in preparation for the Masters this week at Augusta. Having used this very putter for both his US Open wins, the South African has clearly decided to re-establish control over his own key equipment choice, because he knows the speed and sloped nature of the Augusta greens take no prisoners and he will need the utmost control and feel for the competition ahead (See the full story at http://www.golf365.com/news_story/0,17923,9786_6844444,00.html ).

* this is the famous putter Goosen used to clinch both his US Open wins (2001 & 2004) and was one of the first C-Groove Putters ever made – in fact hand made reportedly by the inventor himself Harold Swash. So pleased were the fledgeling putter company, that they asked Goosen permission to name the pouter after his own wife Tracy – thus starting the now famous tradition of giving all Yes! Putters girls’ names.
